About the Authors
John Wilson was born in Stockton-on-Tees and has been a Middlesbrough supporter for as long as he can remember. He is a graduate of the Open University, a former deputy head and college tutor and has recently retired from dealing in sporting memorabilia.
Eric Paylor was introduced to the delights of Ayresome Park when, as a cub reporter on the Hartlepool Mail, he covered Middlesbrough’s glory years under Jack Charlton.
He later joined the Middlesbrough Evening Gazette progressing to chief sports writer until his retirement in 2011. He
continues to write as a freelance.
