There are 16 sections, all on a different era of the Rams, from formation in 1884 to the end of the 2025/26 season. Each era has questions on history, players and matches, in three separate rounds. Finally, there are Bonus rounds at the end of each era, which cover the whole history of the club, with team line-ups, puzzles and a debate question to ponder.

Each question will also have some context in the answer, so you will be able to test your knowledge as well as learn why it happened or the consequence of the event.

How it all started

Sitting down after dinner during the Christmas period in 2025, a father and three grown up sons were testing each other on Derby County trivia, as well as throwing in a few reminiscences. Favourite away game (Leeds play off away leg for all of us), best player ever seen (different players from different eras came up here) and plenty more.

It was a really fun evening, with the internet providing a source for many of the questions and, just as importantly, checking the answers when we couldn’t agree!

The idea of putting all this competition and fun into a book came up and it was decided that we should create one, but if we were going to do it properly, it had to be the best.

Researched and checked

What we thought might be a fairly quick project turned into seven months of research.

AI and search engines were useful starting points, but we quickly discovered they couldn’t always be trusted.
