There is also an ebook version available of this title, it is for sale from Amazon or your usual provider.
Some people might describe the experience of watching the England football team as a punishment, rather than a pleasure, but these intrepid friends travel around Europe following The Three Lions, full of hope and expectation.
From the France 1998 World Cup to the 2012 European Championships in Ukraine, the author and his friends exude the positive and passionate spirit which motivates many England fans, despite the team’s consistent failures.
This is also a personal tale about growing older and wiser as the years pass by. The jobs come and go, marriage and children come along, but despite a shift in priorities, nothing can dim the passion for an away trip.
Full of amusing anecdotes and lucky scrapes, this book tells the truth about what it is really like following England abroad. Far too much beer is consumed as these fans take in France, Bulgaria, Portugal and Ukraine.
From Hoddle to Keegan, and from Sven and Becks to Roy Hodgson, this book highlights the love of travel and of the beautiful game even if we know we should probably be spending all that money on home decorating instead.
About the Author
Despite being a Nottingham Forest fan, Glenn Beckett grew up in the northern suburbs of Sheffield. He spent most of his youth kicking a ball around or watching others kick a ball around.
The climate in Sheffield didn’t really agree with him, so he ended up in Australia, where a football is widely known as being an egg-shaped object.
When not watching English football at some insane time of night, Glenn can be found teaching Primary School children about the joys of ‘soccer’ or watching Peppa Pig with his young daughters.
